Overview
MiTeGen Reagents is a leading provider of protein science solutions. We develop and supply reagent kits, stock solutions and accessories for protein research. Our Reagents business unit provides a unique working environment for those dedicated to quality science performed in a collaborative environment. We are looking for someone to take over in-person supervision and production of these items, as well as assisting with facilitating the relocation of this business unit from The Woodlands, Texas to Ithaca, New York.
The Reagents Production Supervisor at MiTeGen is a supervisor position that plays a vital role in ensuring the success of many daily operations for the company’s reagents business unit production team. This is a “hands-on” position requiring an individual with great interpersonal skills, to facilitate helping keep the reagents production team on track, and ability to self-manage numerous tasks and responsibilities to provide the timely execution for deliverables.
Duties
- Supervise daily reagent production activities within the manufacturing facility, ensuring adherence to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) and CGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practice) standards.
- Coordinate material handling processes and material handling equipment to ensure efficient workflow.
- Oversee the proper handling, storage, and disposal of industrial chemicals and laboratory reagents in accordance with safety protocols and environmental regulations.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles to optimize processes, reduce waste, and improve overall productivity.
- Enforce strict safety protocols including PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) use, respiratory protection, and chemical agent handling procedures.
- Maintain accurate documentation of production activities, batch records, and quality compliance reports aligned with regulatory standards.
- Lead a team of production technicians by developing and providing training on manufacturing SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), equipment operation, and safety practices.
- Monitor and maintain the quality to ensure the products meet the required standards, and schedule necessary maintenance on lab equipment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology or related field with experience in pharmaceutical or industrial chemical manufacturing environments preferred.
- Preferred – knowledge of biochemical production, quality assurance, and other general laboratory procedures
- Must be able to spend 1-2 months working in The Woodlands, Texas before permanent relocation of the business unit to Ithaca, NY
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Demonstrates high level abilities with PC and a wide range of software tools, (ZOHO, Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft Office, Google apps, Canva)
- Demonstrates ability to handle a broad range of responsibilities successfully.
- Ability to effect positive change in personnel behavior and organizational culture and processes.
- Must be able to stand and walk in a laboratory for up to 4 hours at a time
- Excellence in personnel supervision and coaching skills
- Demonstrate an understanding and embracement of 5S and LEAN manufacturing
This role will require 1-2 months of training to take place at The Woodlands, Texas facility, and assistance on location with preparing that unit for permanent relocation to our Ithaca, NY facility. This role will ultimately require being able to work in person from Ithaca, NY.
Pay: $57,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
