The Learning Garden Childcare Center is a rapidly growing daycare center in Slingerlands. We are seeking a motivated, positive staff member to help us meet our mission of providing quality child care in a safe and fun environment.
We have an opportunity for a Lead Toddler Teacher to join our team immediately!
Lead Toddler Teacher responsibilities include:
- Implementing prepared curriculum and lesson plans for children 18-36 months, as well as supplementing curriculum based on student interests
- Run a classroom with a ratio of 1 teacher to 5 students (with a maximum of 3 staff and 12 students)
- Ensuring smooth daily operations in the classroom
- Monitoring and supervising children during activities, to ensure their safety at all times
- Building positive relationships and maintaining open communication with parents/families about child’s behavior and development
- Playing with and read to children
- Helping prepare simple meals and snacks
- Following daily routines such as mealtime, nap time, and toileting
-Supervising assistant teachers and floating teachers in your classroom, as well as effectively communicating tasks that need to be completed
-Cleaning as needed
REQUIREMENTS:
-CDA, Associates Degree, or Bachelor's Degree or being in the process of completing one of these qualifications
-Minimum one year working with children
- MUST be able to sit on the floor to play with children, talk with/to the children, and want to spend time with children
- Reliable Transportation
-MUST be able to pick up children for diaper changes
Experience:
- Experience working with children with special needs is highly desirable
- Familiarity with behavior management techniques and strategies is a plus
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team are essential
***No cell phone use is allowed while in the classroom. Phones are stored in the office so we can comply with NYS child care regulations while you are teaching.***
While working, no homework or other outside work can be done. Headphones/earbuds may not be used while working. Childcare is highly regulated and our center follows all regulations, especially adequate supervision of children at all times.
We strive to give employees a set schedules for each week; however, there may be times when a daily schedule may be changed to ensure adequate classroom coverage. Each employee receives a 30 minute unpaid lunch break daily.

Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $17.50 - $21.00 per hour, commensurate with experience
Expected hours: 37 – 42 per week
