The principle tasks of the Welder are as follows:

Sets up and operates mig welders, tig welders, and automatic welders on production related parts using jigs or fixtures to insure proper welding techniques.

Sets up and operates manual acetylene torches and plasma arc torches.

Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, production documents, and engineering specification sheets.

Must produce parts that meet acceptable quality levels as established by the engineering department.

Must be able to weld steel and aluminum and be able to pass the Canadian Standards Association Welding Certification as defined in CSA 47.1 - 0.3

Performs material handling necessary to the performance of the job.

Adheres to all departmental, plant, and welding safety rules and regulations.

Responsible for housekeeping duties as required or assigned.

Responsible for paperwork necessary for production reporting.

Performs rework as required or assigned.

Initiates work orders and coordinates with the supervisor or lead on equipment or material problems.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to the often limited amount of production operation on 1st shift, and/or fluctuations in the workload, Pole Shop Welder(s) will be assigned to direct labor jobs and may be subject to be transferred into other production jobs. Hourly rate is $21.67/hour plus $0.35 shift differential.
