Small but growing landlord-side practice looking for a New York-licensed attorney to handle eviction, landlord-tenant, and rent collection matters in the Rochester area.
The role is focused primarily on representing landlords in Rochester-area courts, including nonpayment proceedings, lease violations, holdovers, and post-judgment collection matters. Most court appearances are in person, although some matters may have a virtual option. Familiarity with New York landlord-tenant procedure is helpful, but we are open to newer attorneys who are interested in developing this area of practice.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare and file nonpayment, holdover, and lease-violation proceedings
- Appear at landlord-tenant hearings and conferences in Rochester-area courts
- Draft petitions, motions, stipulations, payment agreements, and related pleadings
- Handle warrants, judgments, and post-judgment collection efforts when appropriate
- Ensure filings and notices comply with New York procedural requirements
- Communicate directly with clients regarding case status, settlement options, and strategy
What We’re Looking For
- Active license to practice law in New York (required)
- Ability to attend court appearances in the Rochester, NY area
- Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple matters
- Able to work independently in a hybrid setting
- Landlord-tenant, eviction, litigation, or collections experience is helpful but not required
- Recent graduates and newly admitted attorneys are welcome to apply
This is a flexible hybrid role with much of the preparation and case management work performed remotely and court appearances handled in person as necessary.
Compensation can be structured hourly or per case, depending on experience and availability.
