Position Summary:
Vectra Mechanical is looking for a HVAC Foreman. Our commercial division is actively seeking a new team member to utilize their experience and knowledge to provide an honest service of the highest quality to our customers. The Foreman is responsible for overseeing field installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial and/or residential HVAC and mechanical systems. This role leads crews on job sites, ensures quality workmanship, maintains safety standards, coordinates with project managers and customers, and helps train junior technicians and apprentices.
Job Responsibilities:
- Install RTU’s, boilers, air handlers, chillers and other equipment per manufacturer’s IO&M’s and specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and specifications
- Complete full material takeoff and ordering of parts.
- Must follow project completion timelines.
- Install the following systems: Hydronic, Gas, Flue piping and liners, Low-voltage control wiring.
- Must have refrigeration system knowledge: Install copper refrigerant lines to/from evaporators and condensing units.
- Soldering and brazing of pipes.
- Pressure test and pull vacuums on refrigerant systems.
- Install copper pipe and fittings.
- Understand proper use of hangers and anchors in all applications.
- Perform start-ups on heating, cooling systems and other components.
- Perform limited system diagnostics, as necessary.
- Install and program all versions of thermostats.
- Maintain a professional image at all times by wearing company approved uniform.
- Keep vehicle clean and in safe working order (if issued).
- Effectively communicate with the customer regarding questions, concerns and problems.
- Maintain a courteous demeanor with customers and associates at all times.
- Accurately complete all required documentation on services performed. Inform a manager or team leader of any safety issues.
- Abide by all standards of performance and ethics.
- Participate in company sponsored training classes.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain safe working conditions of the install crew.
- Train, coach and mentor apprentices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Lead and coordinate daily activities of field technicians and apprentices
- Delegate tasks based on crew skill level and project needs
- Maintain productivity and workflow on job sites
- Train and mentor less experienced technicians
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and professionalism
- Have a minimum of 7 years of verifiable work experience in HVAC service and installation.
- Knowledge of the fundamental operational functionality of commercial air conditioning, heating, ventilation systems and hydronic equipment.
- Able to read wiring diagrams and troubleshoot problems with hydronic, refrigerant, electrical, and duct systems on HVAC equipment.
- Must be highly organized with good attention to detail and follow through.
- Excellent customer service skills with desire to exceed customer expectations.
- Function in a team environment.
- Valid driver’s license and approved to drive by Company’s insurance carrier.
Education/Certification Requirements:
- Universal EPA Certification.
- A High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- NATE Certification or other trade certification preferred but not required.
- Journeyman/Masters License preferred but not required
Working Conditions:
- Work in indoor/outdoor elements with extreme variation in temperatures.
- Climbing, heavy lifting, standing, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, sitting, and reaching.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in tight spaces such as attics and/or crawlspaces.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds, to push, pull, carry or maneuver heavier items.
- Occasionally work from heights 15 feet or higher above ground.
- Have good visual acuity to see and focus close, distance and peripheral vision with normal depth perception.
- Willing to work hours outside of normal work schedule, if needed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
