Public Works Field Technician – Town of Drexel
The Town of Drexel is seeking a dependable and motivated Public Works Field Technician to assist with the maintenance and repair of town infrastructure, including water and sewer systems, streets, storm drainage, and public facilities. This position involves outdoor work in all weather conditions and participation in emergency response and after-hours call-outs as needed.
Key Duties
- Assist with water/sewer line repairs, leak detection, and meter work
- Perform street, right-of-way, and storm drainage maintenance
- Operate tools, equipment, and light/medium-duty trucks
- Support infrastructure projects and town events
- Follow safety procedures and use required PPE
- Provide courteous service to the public
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Experience in public works, utilities, construction, or landscaping preferred
- Valid NC driver’s license required (CDL or ability to obtain preferred)
- Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work
The Town of Drexel serves approximately 1,800 residents and is a full-service town with electric, water, sewer, and street maintenance responsibilities.
Salary & Benefits
$36,099 – $47,365 annually depending on qualifications and experience.
Benefits include health insurance, participation in NC LGERS retirement, paid leave, and holidays per Town policy.
