Software Development Intern – Geologic Data Analytics
Position Summary
PureWest is seeking a motivated Software Development Intern to design and develop a software application that processes, correlates, and normalizes raw gamma ray well logs stored in .LAS (Log ASCII Standard) format. The resulting tool will support geologic and reservoir characterization efforts by improving data consistency and usability for technical analysis.
Project Scope
The primary objective is the successful creation of a functional software tool that correlates and normalizes raw .LAS gamma ray logs to aid geologic analysis. Depending on the success and maturity of the base product, additional features and enhancements may be identified and assigned as the internship progresses.
Qualifications
Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Geology, Petroleum Engineering, or a related field.
Experience with programming languages such as Python, C#, Java, or similar.
Familiarity with data processing, visualization, and software development best practices.
Interest in geoscience, subsurface data, or energy industry applications is preferred.
Deliverables
At the conclusion of the internship, the selected candidate will provide:
A working software prototype or application.
Supporting technical documentation.
A brief presentation and live demonstration of the final product to the PureWest technical team, highlighting project objectives, development approach, functionality, and recommendations for future enhancements.
