Looking for more than just another Medical Assistant job?
If you're the type of person who genuinely enjoys helping others, believes every patient deserves kindness and respect, and wants to work in a practice where your work truly matters, we'd love to meet you.
At BreatheSleepMD, we practice medicine the way we believe it was always meant to be.
Unhurried. Personal. Compassionate.
We don't believe patients should ever feel like a number, and we don't believe employees should either.
Our mission is simple:
We take care of patients the way medicine was meant to be: unhurried, personal, and always on their side. From breathing to sleep to allergies to weight management, we are one team that knows our patients' stories and helps carry the parts of healthcare that often feel overwhelming.
Because we intentionally focus on quality rather than volume, we typically care for only 7 to 14 patients each day. This allows us to spend meaningful time with our patients while creating a calm, organized work environment for our team. On days when the physician is providing care in the intensive care unit, our team focuses on administrative projects, patient follow-up, workflow improvements, and professional development rather than rushing through a packed schedule.
If you're tired of feeling overwhelmed by high-volume medicine and want to build a career where you can grow, learn, and make a genuine difference, this may be exactly what you've been looking for.
Why our team loves working here
We know that exceptional patient care starts with taking great care of our team.
When you join us, you'll enjoy:
- A Monday through Friday schedule with no regular weekends
- A supportive physician who believes in mentoring rather than micromanaging
- A close-knit team where everyone's ideas matter
- Direct exposure to pulmonary medicine, sleep medicine, allergy care, biologic therapies, and weight management
- Hands-on training in specialty procedures including pulmonary function testing, spirometry, allergy testing, biologic medications, home sleep studies, CPAP education, and lung ultrasound
- Training in state-of-the-art AI tools and technology that improve efficiency, reduce administrative burden, and help you develop valuable career skills while maintaining strict HIPAA compliance
- Paid continuing education and reimbursement for approved certifications that benefit both your career and our practice
- Performance reviews every six months with opportunities for merit-based raises
- Opportunity to grow into a Lead Medical Assistant role
- Health, dental, and vision benefits based on plan eligibility
- 401(k) with employer matching when eligible
- Paid time off
- Free parking
Most importantly, you'll be part of a team that genuinely enjoys working together.
A message from Dr. Luis Chug:
"I didn't build this practice to become the biggest clinic in Houston. I built it to become the kind of practice where patients feel heard, where employees enjoy coming to work, and where we can provide the kind of care that many people feel has disappeared from modern medicine.
I believe healthcare is a team sport. My goal isn't simply to hire employees. It's to mentor people who want to grow professionally while making a meaningful difference in patients' lives. If you're dependable, compassionate, eager to learn, and committed to excellence, I promise to invest in your success."
What you'll be doing:
Every day is a little different, which keeps the work interesting.
- You'll welcome patients with warmth and professionalism while communicating fluently in both English and Spanish.
- You'll record vital signs, medications, allergies, and medical histories accurately in Elation Health.
- You'll prepare patients for visits, educate them about testing, answer questions, and help them feel comfortable throughout their visit.
- You'll assist with pulmonary function testing, spirometry, allergy skin testing, allergy immunotherapy injections, biologic medications, home sleep studies, CPAP education, lung ultrasound, and other specialty procedures.
- You'll coordinate laboratory and imaging orders, maintain organized exam rooms, assist with insurance authorizations, and work closely with our physician, nurse practitioner, office manager, and virtual support team to ensure every patient receives exceptional care.
- You will not routinely perform blood draws.
Who succeeds here
- We're much more interested in your attitude than your résumé.
- The people who thrive in our practice are dependable.
- They enjoy learning.
- They welcome feedback.
- They communicate well.
- They notice the little things.
- They care deeply about patients.
- They stay calm when priorities change.
- They take ownership without waiting to be asked.
If that describes you, we'd much rather teach you specialty medicine than hire someone with years of experience who lacks those qualities.
Medical Assistant certification recognized in Texas is required.
Spanish fluency is required.
This probably isn't the right fit if...
- You're looking for a job where you can simply clock in and clock out.
- You don't enjoy learning new technology.
- You resist feedback or coaching.
- You struggle with punctuality or reliability.
- You prefer doing the minimum instead of taking pride in your work.
- We're looking for someone who wants to build a career, not just collect a paycheck.
What success looks like
Within your first six months, you'll confidently support clinic flow, build meaningful relationships with patients, navigate our electronic medical record efficiently, assist with specialty procedures, use AI tools to improve workflows, communicate proactively with the team, and become someone your coworkers and patients can rely on every day.
What one of our team members says
"I've been with BreatheSleepMD for four years, and one of the things I appreciate most is how much Dr. Chug truly cares about both his patients and his staff. We work together as a team, we're encouraged to keep learning, and we're never treated like we're just here to get through the day. It's a place where you can grow professionally while knowing your work genuinely makes a difference in people's lives."
