Project Manager Friendswood Tx. – Steel Industry
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Project Manager to oversee steel fabrication and construction projects from contract award through final completion. The Project Manager will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing all aspects of assigned projects, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role requires strong leadership, technical knowledge of the steel industry, and excellent communication skills with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage multiple steel fabrication and installation projects simultaneously.
- Develop project schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
- Coordinate with engineering, detailing, fabrication, procurement, logistics, and field installation teams.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers throughout the project lifecycle.
- Review contracts, project specifications, and construction drawings.
- Monitor project costs, identify risks, and implement cost-control measures.
- Track project progress and ensure milestones are achieved on schedule.
- Coordinate material procurement and delivery to meet production and installation timelines.
- Manage subcontractors and suppliers to ensure quality and timely performance.
- Conduct project meetings and provide regular status updates to clients and senior management.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and industry standards.
- Resolve project issues, change orders, and customer concerns promptly.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, reports, and closeout records.
- Support continuous process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3-5 years of project management experience in structural steel, miscellaneous metals, or steel fabrication.
- Strong understanding of steel fabrication processes, shop drawings, welding, and erection practices.
- Experience reading blueprints, engineering drawings, and project specifications.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project, and ERP/project management software.
- Excellent organizational, leadership, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AISC standards and AWS welding codes.
- Knowledge of estimating, scheduling, and contract administration.
- Experience working with commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects.
