Tax Associate
Position Summary:
The primary function of this role is to prepare individual, partnership, corporate, and nonprofit tax returns while also providing support for general accounting functions across multiple entities. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations and assists in the preparation of internal financial statements. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical expertise in accounting and taxation, a client-first mindset, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
Tax Preparation and Client Service

Prepare accurate and timely tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and nonprofit organizations

Deliver exceptional service to clients to promote satisfaction and retention

Apply technical knowledge to complex tax and accounting matters, ensuring compliance and optimal tax outcomes
Accounting and Financial Reporting

Process daily transactions to general ledger accounts and prepare journal entries
-
Reconcile commission revenue and assist with month-end closings
-
Assist in the preparation of internal financial statements for multiple business entities
-
Support the fulfillment of compliance-related reporting requirements
Accounts Payable and Receivable Management

Process vendor payments and ensure accurate accounts payable entries
-
Record receipts and maintain accounts receivable accuracy
-
Monitor cash balances across multiple entities and escalate issues as needed
Operational Support

Assist in the coordination of various finance-related duties and special projects
-
Support cross-functional activities as assigned to improve process efficiencies

Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required

Current Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or IRS Enrolled Agent (EA) designation required

Minimum of 3 years of experience preparing individual and business tax returns; prior experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, or commission accounting is preferred

Strong knowledge of accounting principles and federal tax regulations, including preparation of Forms 1040, 1065, 1120, and 990
-
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with a strong emphasis on Excel

Experience with accounting and tax software, including LaCerte, TaxDome, and QuickBooks
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with clients

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail
-
Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities, work independently, and consistently meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
