Position Summary
The Lead Electronics Technician is a senior hands-on role responsible for supporting the manufacturing, testing, and troubleshooting of electronic assemblies and circuit boards used in defense and aerospace applications. This position works closely with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve technical issues, improve processes, and ensure products meet strict reliability and quality standards. This is a hands-on technical position working directly with electronics and test equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Serve as the senior technical resource supporting electronics manufacturing and testing operations.
- Mentor and support other technicians, sharing troubleshooting knowledge and best practices.
- Provide hands-on support to engineering, production, and quality teams.
- Help drive technical problem solving and continuous improvement across the shop floor.
- Circuit Board Troubleshooting & Repair
- Troubleshoot and repair electronic assemblies and PCB assemblies to the component level.
- Perform SMT and through-hole soldering, rework, and board modifications.
- Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and PCB layouts.
- Modify circuit boards using jumpers, trace repair, and component replacement when required.
Testing & Validation
- Perform electrical and functional testing using equipment including digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, pressure transducers, accelerometers, and other electrical and electromechanical test fixtures.
- Analyze test results to identify issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Support development and setup of test equipment, fixtures, and validation procedures.Production Support
- Work closely with production teams to support manufacturing builds and resolve technical issues.
- Assist engineering teams with prototype builds, product improvements, and validation activities.
- Support configuration control and engineering revision management.
Inventory Control & Organization
- Maintain an organized work environment including tools, fixtures, and test equipment.
- Support inventory organization of electronic components and test equipment.
- Ensure materials, parts, and tools remain traceable and audit-ready in accordance with quality procedures.
- Support ESD handling practices and proper storage of sensitive electronic components.
Compliance & Documentation
- Maintain accurate troubleshooting, repair, and testing records.
- Support quality initiatives and compliance with industry standards.
- Assist with internal and external audits when required.
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum 7 years experience in electronics manufacturing, troubleshooting, or testing.
- Experience working in Department of Defense (DoD) or aerospace environments.
- Strong hands-on troubleshooting ability at the component level.
- Experience with SMT and through-hole soldering and rework.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and PCB layouts.
- Experience using electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes and multimeters.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Experience maintaining organized workspaces and supporting audit-ready environments.
- U.S. Citizenship required and ability to obtain or maintain a DoD security clearance.
Preferred
- Experience working within AS9100 quality environments.
- Knowledge or experience with FAA regulatory requirements, AS9100 Rev C, and MIL standards.
- IPC certifications such as IPC-A-610, IPC J-STD-001, or IPC-7711/7721.
- Experience mentoring technicians and supporting technical teams.

Compensation & Benefits
Hourly Pay Range: $35 – $45 per hour depending on experience and qualifications.
Overtime opportunities may be available depending on program needs.
