The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor’s College of Education invites applications for a visiting, non-tenure-track faculty position, beginning in late July 2026. UMHB seeks faculty who are active Christians and dedicated teachers and scholars committed to preparing students for leadership, service, and faith-informed discernment in a global society.
The College of Education prepares future educators through undergraduate and graduate programs grounded in research-based practice, clinical experiences, and a commitment to student success. The College is dedicated to preparing educators and leaders who are equipped to serve diverse learners and communities through faith-informed decision-making.
UMHB is conveniently located in Belton, a historic town of 23,000 in the heart of Central Texas. Nearby cities include Temple (5 miles), Waco (45 miles), Austin (65 miles), San Antonio (130 miles), and Dallas/Fort Worth (130 miles). Excellent schools, abundant cultural and recreational opportunities, and a high quality of life are hallmarks of the local community.
Faculty Responsibilities: Activities required of all faculty include exemplary teaching, curriculum development, student advising, professional attainment, and service to the college, university, and community.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Teach 15 hours of undergraduate and/or graduate Education courses, which may include Curriculum & Instruction, Advanced Literacy (Reading Clinic), Classroom Management and/or Classroom Technology.
- Support teacher preparation programs through supervision of clinical experiences, as needed.
- Contribute to program development, accreditation processes, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Advise and mentor undergraduate students.
- Engage in scholarship and professional activity.
- Participate in service activities within the department, college, university, and broader educational community.
- Other responsibilities may include student recruitment.
Qualifications:
- Must be an active and committed Christian who will support the University’s mission and be an active participant in a local church.
- Earned doctorate in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Literacy/Reading Education, or a closely related field from an accredited institution is required (ABD candidates near completion may be considered).
- Demonstrated expertise in literacy instruction and/or reading development is preferred.
- Experience teaching in P–12 and Higher Education settings
- Texas teaching certification and experience are preferred.
- Evidence of effective teaching in higher education and/or online instruction is desirable.
- Strong communication skills, commitment to professional growth, and dedication to high-quality educator preparation are essential.
- Must agree to the University’s Employee Statement of Understanding.
