We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and student-centered K–8 Music Teacher who will inspire students through music and help cultivate a vibrant fine arts program.
Position Overview
The Music Teacher will provide high-quality music instruction to students in grades K–8. The successful candidate will create engaging, developmentally appropriate learning experiences that develop students’ musical knowledge, creativity, confidence, collaboration, and appreciation for the arts.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging music instruction for students in grades K–8.
- Teach foundational music concepts, including rhythm, melody, harmony, notation, musical vocabulary, and performance.
- Incorporate singing, movement, instruments, music technology, and creative expression into instruction.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Establish and maintain a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment.
- Assess student learning and maintain accurate instructional records.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and school leadership to support student achievement.
- Prepare students for school performances, concerts, showcases, and special events.
- Help develop and expand STAR Academy's fine arts programming.
- Identify opportunities for student participation in music clubs, ensembles, performances, and community events.
- Communicate effectively with families regarding student progress and upcoming performances.
- Participate in PLCs, professional development, staff meetings, and schoolwide initiatives.
- Support the school's mission, vision, and culture.
- Perform other duties as assigned by school leadership.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Music Education, Education, or a related field.
- Appropriate Tennessee teaching license or eligibility for licensure.
- Experience working with elementary and/or middle school students.
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
- Ability to teach students across multiple grade levels.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred:
- Experience teaching K–8 music.
- Vocal and/or instrumental performance experience.
- Experience directing ensembles, choirs, bands, or student performances.
- Experience integrating music technology into instruction.
- Experience developing or expanding a school music program.
