1.0 JOB SUMMARY
The primary role of the Shipping Manager (SM) is to plan, implement, and oversee the company’s end-to-end logistics, inventory, and fulfillment processes. The goal is to maximize efficiency and productivity, ensuring that products are delivered to customers accurately and on time. The SM makes recommendations to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency concerning logistical operations and manages the company’s logistics related to shipping, receiving, and the fulfillment of catalog, 3PL, and e-commerce orders. The SM minimizes shortages and costs, sources reliable service providers as needed for operations, and performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations (DOO) when not performing the essential duties listed below. The SM primary responsibilities are divided into the following categories:

2.0 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following represents the list of essential duties and responsibilities of the Shipping Manager. Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of the DOO.
2.1 General Management Responsibilities:
- 2.1.1 Manage the daily duties of Shipping/Receiving and Fulfillment to ensure all responsibilities, duties, and expectations found in the “Logistics and Fulfillment Manager Duties, Responsibilities, and Expectations” document are successfully met in these areas.
- 2.1.2 Promote the design, development, and implementation of fulfillment and logistics solutions.
- 2.1.3 Manage labor costs, personnel productivity, inventory levels of fulfillment goods, data accuracy, and shipping/receiving strategies.
- 2.1.4 Measure and report on the effectiveness of divisional activities and operations.
- 2.1.5 Create and maintain safe work instructions and standard operating procedures for the Logistics and Fulfillment Divisions.
- 2.1.6 Adjust work procedures to meet demands, production schedules, established workflows, and OSHA safety guidelines while implementing strategies to improve quality, employee efficiency, performance, and interdepartmental communication.
- 2.1.7 Responsible for assisting in the development of budgets as it relates to the Operations Department, including Logistics and Fulfillment Division expenses.
- 2.1.8 Participate in the development of long-term strategies and plans as it relates to shipping, receiving, fulfillment, and freight/logistical actions of the company.
- 2.1.9 Be a trusted resource by staying abreast of the company’s products, industry, and relevant technologies.
- 2.1.10 Responsible for training and coaching all employees assigned as staff, as applicable.
- 2.1.11 Participate in the development of standards of performance as related to the Logistics and Fulfillment Division.
- 2.1.12 Must adhere to the overall company policies and procedures.
2.2 Planning Responsibilities:
- 2.2.1 Plan and implement the overall supply chain strategy for the company by working directly with department heads.
- 2.2.2 Collaborate with Accounting, Inventory, Operations, Purchasing and Sales teams to develop supply chain strategies that minimize shortages, minimize costs, and improve productivity, quality, and efficiency of operations.
- 2.2.3 Develop plans for the Shipping/Receiving and Fulfillment Departments to ensure daily execution of all responsibilities, duties, and expectations in these areas.
2.3 Fulfillment and Logistics Responsibilities:
- 2.3.1 Develop and execute the processes for handling incoming goods – including verifying shipments, receiving product, and transferring the received product to the proper storage location.
- 2.3.2 Source, develop, and manage broker relationships as they relate to large and small program shipping.
- 2.3.3 Arrange outbound truckload and LTL shipments with freight brokers and manage truckload schedules.
- 2.3.4 Develop and execute the processes for fulfillment of the company’s catalog, 3PL, e-com, and mail order programs.
- 2.3.5 Optimize logistical resources while executing cost reductions and inventory controls.
- 2.3.6 Work directly with the Purchasing Division to arrange pick-up and delivery of applicable live/hard goods.
2.4 Data Analysis and Tracking Responsibilities:
- 2.4.1 Oversee the creation and execution of processes and methods to gather company supply chain data.
- 2.4.2 Perform monthly data analysis to track capacity, costing, and performance of the supply chain to ensure that forecasts and schedules are aligned, integrated, and on-trend.
- 2.4.3 Conduct inventory analyses of fulfillment goods to ensure accuracy of on hand availability.
- 2.4.4 Process data, identify problematic areas, and suggest improvements of the supply chain.
3.0 COLLATERAL DUTIES
- 3.1 The Shipping Manager will also act as general manager of Building #1, providing general supervision and ensuring for safety and security. The LFM will maintain a safe work environment in the building and supervise the day to day operations, tasks, cleaning and organization of the building. Nightly door locking and turning off lights in the building is the responsibility of the SM.
- 3.2 Additional duties as assigned by the DOO.

5.0 JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- 5.1 Education: College graduate or equivalent experience in supply chain management, shipping/receiving, fulfillment, inventory, and manufacturing supervision.
- 5.2 Experience: 3 years of experience with 2 year in a supervisory capacity.
- 5.3 Skills: Slow to frustration, focused, diligent, organized, kind, and motivated. Good communication skills are a must. Computer skills, including proficiency in Excel, Word, and database systems are required.
- 5.4 Physical: Full use of all senses, including physical ability to stand continually, and sit, crouch, bend, reach, walk, climb and maneuver without physical restraint in all-weather/environment conditions. Able to lift 50 lbs in a repetitive manner when applicable.
- 5.5 Mental: Ability to multitask, organize data and information related to managing fulfillment.
- 5.6 Language: Full grasp of the English language is required.
6.0 PERFORMANCE CRITERIA AND EVALUATION
The position of Shipping Manager is important to the organization and its ability to execute operationally. The SM has significant authority over logistics and fulfillment within the organization and will be measured in part by the following performance criteria.
- 6.1 All of the above Duties and Responsibilities are performed in a thorough and timely manner.
- 6.2 Company logistics strategies are developed, executed, measured, and achieved.
- 6.3 Accurate and thorough reports are provided timely and without error.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
