Edison Prep has a subcontract position opening for our summer program July 6-July 30th.
We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Music Instructor for a subcontracted summer opportunity. This role involves leading a single section focused on either Music Appreciation or Beginner Instrument instruction for a small group of students. (Class size 6 or less)
Edison Prep is a safe and supportive educational environment. We serve students in grade 7-12 who reside in a treatment facility.
While our regular teaching subcontractors are required to hold PA teaching certifications, for this opportunity we welcome applicants with demonstrated expertise, enthusiasm, and a commitment to delivering high-quality instruction—even if they do not hold a formal music instruction certification.
Responsibilities: Deliver engaging lessons in Music Appreciation or Beginner Instrument instruction, aligned with Edison Prep’s curriculum goals. Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that inspire student interest and participation. Assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and foster skill development. Maintain a positive, safe, and collaborative classroom environment.
Qualifications: Strong proficiency in music theory and history, or mastery of a specific instrument. Experience teaching or mentoring students in grades 7–12. Genuine passion for teaching and the ability to motivate learners of varying skill levels.
Schedule & Commitment: Subcontracted position for Period 1: Monday–Thursday, 9:00–10:30 AM. Four-week summer session: July 7th–July 30th. For the right individual this position would include a 26-27 school year offer at the completion of a successful summer session.
Compensation is generous ,based on experience and certification level, entry beginner rate 25/hr. Higher rates are provided if the instructor holds a valid Pa. teaching certification.
