Role Summary
The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for the identification, approval, and ongoing management of direct and indirect production suppliers, securing the supply of certified organic raw ingredients, packaging material, and all indirect plant material to meet our requirements and support our production plans, conducting regular surveillance of the supply base to identify and mitigate risks. The Supply Chain Manager is also responsible for the definition, flow-down, and monitoring of all required commercial terms, technical specifications, quality requirements, traceability requirements, organic certifications, and food safety requirements within the approved supply base.
A Day in the Life
· Work collaboratively and according to set planning processes with Sales and Operations teams to understand the forecasted demand and production plans for each product type, distilling those plans into specific and discrete requirements for each item in the bill of ingredients and/or bill or materials.
· Establish and maintain a structured ERP database of approved suppliers, pricing, lead-times etc. for each item in the bill of ingredients/materials, using this data to build accurate purchasing plans to meet the projected demand.
· Execute purchasing plans upon review and approval of management, and review progress to ensure timely adherence to plan/scope/schedule.
· Define, flow-down, and monitor adherence to all required commercial terms, technical specifications, quality requirements, traceability requirements, organic certifications, and food safety requirements across the approved supply base.
· Identify and approve new suppliers, paying particular attention to compliance with purchasing requirements, and by reviewing all new orders for adherence to all relevant schedules and production plan constraints.
· Support inventory management of received goods through data analysis and periodic stock takes. Manage aging inventory and reconciliation of finished goods as required. Troubleshoot inventory issues to facilitate timely order fulfillment and maintain long-term inventory accuracy.
· Coordinate all incoming shipment logistics. Identify opportunities to optimize shipments and inventory movements to drive efficiency, cost reduction, and to optimize warehouse usage.
· Anticipate challenges and disruptions to transportation flow and/or storage, and proactively design strategies to avoid these issues.
· Provide long-term demand outlooks for our direct suppliers to drive alignment on resources and order fulfillment strategy.
· Maintain collaborative relationships and conduct regular business reviews with key suppliers to ensure clarity of business needs and confirm ability to deliver.
· Leverage analytical skills to develop/maintain supplier KPIs and reporting dashboards to communicate information with broader internal teams, and with the suppliers regarding their performance versus expectations.
· Ensure requirements and KPI metrics are met and/or exceeded across the supply chain. Establish corrective actions as necessary with suppliers to recover performance and meet business needs.
· Perform other duties and manage projects as assigned from time to time; including developing project scope and objectives, creating and meeting project timelines, coordinating internal resources and third parties for the flawless execution of projects.
What you Bring
· 5+ years of experience working in Supply Chain or Logistics and/or in a similar role within the CPG/Food & Beverage space required.
· Bachelor's Degree preferred, ideally with concentration in Supply Chain Management, Engineering or Data Analytics.
· High level of Excel Skills (XLookups, PowerQuery/Pivot, Index-Match).
· Strong analytical skills and ERP system experience.
· Ideal past experiences would include: inventory management, supply chain management, logistics management, data analytics, supplier quality management, organic certification requirements, food safety requirements.
· Strong attention to detail, organizational and collaboration skills.
· Risk management skills, but also a resourceful, proactive, and solution-oriented approach to problems solving.
· Good communication skills, including the ability to generate clear reports and define clear ‘asks’ for management decision making
· Strong negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
· A passion for natural food and healthy eating as well as a desire to change the way we think about ingredients.
