As a specialized transport driver, you aren't just moving a trailer; you are responsible for the safe loading, transport, and unloading of high-value construction assets. This position requires precision, patience, and a deep understanding of heavy equipment mechanics.
Key Responsibilities
- Heavy Equipment Operation: Safely load and unload various machinery (excavators, dozers, pavers, etc.) onto lowboy and RGN trailers.
- Load Securement: Expertly secure all loads using chains and binders to meet or exceed DOT regulations.
- Route Planning: Navigate weight-restricted roads and bridges, ensuring oversized loads reach their destination efficiently and legally.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections; maintain clean and functional tractors and trailers.
- Compliance: Maintain accurate electronic logs (ELD) and ensure all permits for oversized/overweight loads are in order.
Qualifications
- Licensing: Valid Class A CDL with a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
- Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of experience specifically in lowboy or heavy-haul transport.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of oversized load regulations and multi-axle trailer configurations.
- Physical Ability: Must be able to handle heavy chains, climb on/off equipment, and work in various outdoor weather conditions.
- Reliability: A "safety-first" mindset and a reputation for being on time.
