PowerGEM is seeking a highly skilled Integration Software Developer to strengthen the interoperability and performance of our suite of advanced power-system simulation and analysis tools. This role reporting to the Chief Product Officer focuses on building robust data pipelines, improving runtime efficiency, and implementing standardized interfaces that enable seamless workflows across multiple PowerGEM platforms.
You will work closely with software engineers and domain experts to design and maintain integration layers, benchmark system performance, and ensure that simulation results are consistent and reliable across diverse applications. This is a hands-on development role with significant influence on the architectural direction of our software ecosystem.
- Design and implement cross-platform integration layers, APIs, and standardized data exchange formats (e.g., XML, JSON, CSV, custom binary).
- Develop frameworks to benchmark and validate simulation outputs, including automation of test suites, performance profiling, and regression analysis.
- Refactor and extend existing codebases to improve maintainability, consistency, and efficiency of multi-tool workflows.
- Collaborate with product engineers to ensure consistent treatment of core modeling concepts (e.g., generators, loads, transmission elements) across platforms.
- Optimize data processing pipelines for scalability and computational performance on large-scale system models.
- Support design of long-term architecture strategies, including modularization, dependency management, and code reuse.
- Participate in code reviews, contribute to shared libraries, and enforce best practices in software engineering.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Proficiency in one or more compiled languages (C++, C#) and scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, or similar).
- Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and performance optimization.
- Experience with APIs, middleware, and integration frameworks (e.g., REST, gRPC, message queues).
- Familiarity with large-scale simulations, numerical analysis, or power-system modeling strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of version control (Git), build systems, and automated testing frameworks.
- Strong debugging, profiling, and troubleshooting skills in complex, multi-tool environments.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams, including software engineers and power system analysts.
- Comfortable working in fast-paced environments where priorities may shift based on customer needs or industry developments.
At PowerGEM, you’ll contribute directly to the reliability and planning of the North American electric grid. You’ll work on highly technical challenges—such as optimizing simulation runtimes, designing reusable integration components, and ensuring interoperability across industry-standard tools—while collaborating with experts in both software and power systems. This role is ideal for developers who thrive on technical rigor and want to shape the architecture of a mission-critical software ecosystem.
