Basic Function:
The Athletic Director is responsible for the development and implementation of an appropriate and effective athletic program for their Middle School.
Responsibilities:
- Educate Head coaches on DPI policy, WS/FCS policy, hiring procedures
- Identify the future athletic program needs of the school and develop and recommend to the principal, long and short-range plans for meeting them.
- Assure all student-athletes and coaches are WS/FCS eligible/compliant prior to the start of each season
- Oversee all aspects of equipment areas, weight room, locker rooms, and the gymnasiums
- Develop, organize, and maintain Inventory all uniforms and equipment
- Develop fundraising opportunities for the overall athletic department i.e., Banner program
- Oversee team fundraisers for each team to assure no team is monopolizing the market
- Set up facility use schedule and coordinate with all teams and coaches
- Develop an athletic department budget within the parameters set by the principal after consultation with the coaches.
- Hold preseason meetings with each HC to discuss upcoming season, needs, concerns etc.
- Inform and advise the principal and district athletic director on personnel needs promote athletics in the school.
- Arbitrate all problems that may arise within the athletic department
- Assist with payment of athletic department bills with LS
- Input all travel into travel tracker
- Close out all trips in a timely manner in TT
- Maintain WS/FCS school Webpages with up-to-date schedules and rosters wsfcsathletics.com
- Work with SRO to arraign for adequate security for athletic contests (consult District if needed)
- Organize ticket sales for each athletic contest
- Arrange for walkthrough metal detectors to be at gates for athletic contests
- Arrange for personnel to work all contests al athletic events
- Submit time sheets to LS for payment for those working athletic events
