Science Teacher (Part-Time, 11-Month Position)
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Schedule: Approximately 32 hours per week

We are seeking a passionate, creative, and student-centered Science Teacher who is committed to engaging students, building meaningful relationships, and creating an inclusive learning environment where every student can succeed.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned science instruction that promotes inquiry, critical thinking, and real-world application.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and culturally responsive classroom environment.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the academic and social-emotional needs of diverse learners.
- Monitor student progress using formal and informal assessments and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Build positive relationships with students and families to encourage attendance, engagement, and academic success.
- Collaborate with teachers, counselors, administrators, and support staff to support student achievement.
- Maintain accurate student records, grades, and attendance.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school events.
- Support YESPhilly's mission of preparing students for careers, postsecondary education, and lifelong success.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Science, Science Education, or a related field.
- Valid Pennsylvania teaching certification (or eligibility to obtain certification).
- Experience teaching high school students preferred.
- Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
- Commitment to educational equity, restorative practices, and trauma-informed teaching.
- Ability to build authentic relationships with students from diverse backgrounds.
