Duties
- Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, chopping, and measuring to ensure timely meal assembly
- Assist in food preparation tasks such as portioning, mixing, and assembling dishes according to established recipes and standards
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the prep station, including proper food handling and storage practices in compliance with food safety regulations
- Support cooking staff by providing prepped ingredients for cooking and plating processes
- Follow menu planning guidelines to ensure consistency and quality of meals served
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including knives, mixers, and other culinary tools
- Assist with catering setups and special event preparations as needed
Experience
- Previous experience working in a dietary department or dietary aide role is highly desirable
- Familiarity with food preparation, cooking techniques, and food handling safety standards
- Experience in restaurant or food service environments demonstrating strong knife skills and meal preparation abilities
- Knowledge of food safety protocols and sanitation practices within the food industry
- Background in culinary arts or related training is a plus
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen setting while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong teamwork skills with experience supporting kitchen staff during busy service times
