GSUC Child Development and Learning Center
The Child Development and Learning Center is seeking an experienced, creative, and passionate Assistant Teacher to assist in one of our preschool classrooms. The Assistant Teacher will be responsible for helping to provide a safe, engaging, and supportive early childhood environment in which children can grow socially, emotionally, physically, and cognitively.
The Child Development and Learning Center is committed to providing a play-based, developmentally appropriate early childhood education for the preschool children of Graduate Center students, faculty, and staff.
Job Title: Assistant Teacher
The assistant Teacher will work in conjunction with the Head Teacher. The Assistant Teacher will be responsible for providing a nurturing, supportive, and developmentally appropriate early childhood environment in which children can grow physically, socially, emotionally and cognitively.
Starting Salary: $41,000
Qualifications:
The Assistant Teacher shall possess a minimum of the following credentials:
-Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent GED
-Experience working with children

General Duties:
- Meeting the needs of each individual child in a supportive and caring manner
- Provides children with clear, consistent expectations and positive feedback
- Implementation of a consistent daily routine and schedule
- Provides a stimulating and nurturing environment
- Collaborating with fellow teachers and staff on daily responsibilities,
parent events and other Center related activities
- Communication and follow-up with the Head Teacher and the Director on any issues or
needs of the classroom and individual students
- Participates in parent-teacher conferences and serves as a resource/referral for parents
- Participates in keeping the Center clean and organized
- Provides activities based on the developmental needs of each child
- Is able to balance the needs of each child when working with small and large groups of children
- Participates in curriculum planning, progress reporting and assessment
- Observing and recording strengths, areas of concern, learning styles and behaviors
Professional Development
- Attends staff workshops and conferences and maintains the following trainings and certifications:
o Certified First Aid/CPR
o Mandated Reporter Training
o Foundations in Health and Safety Training
o Identifying and Responding to Anaphylaxis Training
Pay: From $41,000.00 per year
