Building Maintenance Technician
Position Overview
The Building Maintenance Technician is responsible for conducting inspections, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring the overall upkeep and functionality of building systems and facilities. This role supports a safe, clean, and efficient work environment through hands-on maintenance and timely repairs.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspections and Preventive Maintenance: Regularly inspect buildings, equipment, and systems to identify potential issues, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure operation of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Repairs: Resolve minor maintenance issues such as drywall patching, fixture replacement, plumbing repairs, and door or lock adjustments.
- Systems Maintenance: Service and repair essential building systems, including electrical, heating, cooling, and plumbing components.
- Cleaning and Facility Care: Maintain cleanliness in common areas, including floors, windows, and restrooms, and manage trash removal and general facility upkeep.
- General Upkeep: Support facility improvements through painting, minor roofing work, groundskeeping, and snow removal as needed.
- Handyman Tasks: Perform a variety of tasks including furniture assembly, equipment setup or removal, and other general maintenance duties.
- Record Keeping: Document maintenance and repair activities, manage work orders, and track inventory for supplies and replacement parts.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to company safety protocols and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local health and safety regulations.
- Scheduling and Coordination: Work with and oversee external contractors performing major repairs or specialized work when necessary.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in general building maintenance or a related trade.
- Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
- Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to use basic hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Good communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
- Physical ability to lift, climb, and perform manual labor as required.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications are a plus.
