About the Role
We are seeking an experienced UX Design Manager to lead and develop a team of UX Designers while remaining actively involved in complex design work.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can balance team management, strategic thinking, and design execution. The UX Design Manager will be responsible for maintaining a high standard of design quality, mentoring designers, shaping the user experience across our products, and partnering closely with Product, Engineering, and business stakeholders.
The ideal candidate is an experienced product designer who has successfully transitioned into design leadership but still enjoys solving difficult UX problems and contributing directly to the work.
What You’ll Do
- Lead, mentor, and support a team of UX Designers through regular feedback, design critiques, one-on-one meetings, and career-development conversations.
- Establish and maintain a high standard of UX and visual design quality across multiple products and workstreams.
- Review design work and provide clear, thoughtful, and actionable feedback throughout the design process.
- Help define the UX vision and strategic direction for a growing suite of interconnected software products.
- Translate business goals, user needs, and product requirements into clear, scalable, and intuitive experience solutions.
- Personally contribute to complex, high-impact design initiatives involving ambiguity, complicated workflows, or cross-product dependencies.
- Create user flows, information architecture, wireframes, prototypes, and polished interface designs.
- Partner closely with Product, Engineering, business leaders, and subject-matter experts throughout the product-development lifecycle.
- Participate in requirements workshops, planning sessions, design reviews, and product discussions to clarify problems and intended outcomes before solutions are developed.
- Communicate design rationale, tradeoffs, and recommendations clearly to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
- Contribute to the continued development and maintenance of the company’s design system, including reusable components, interaction patterns, standards, and documentation.
- Partner with Engineering to align design-system components with their implemented counterparts.
- Help improve the processes, tools, and practices used to deliver high-quality design work.
- Advocate for user-centered design and ensure individual features contribute to a cohesive overall product experience.
- Balance team leadership responsibilities with hands-on design execution across critical initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- 5–7 years of UX, product design, or interaction design experience.
- 1–3 years of experience managing designers.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating thoughtful UX problem-solving and high-quality interface design.
- Experience designing complex web-based software, SaaS products, internal tools, enterprise applications, or workflow-heavy systems.
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects from early problem definition through final design and implementation.
- Experience reviewing design work and providing clear, constructive feedback.
- Strong knowledge of interaction design, information architecture, usability, visual hierarchy, and responsive design.
- Experience contributing to or maintaining a design system.
- Proficiency with Figma and modern product-design workflows.
- Strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
- Experience collaborating closely with Product and Engineering teams.
- Ability to manage multiple initiatives and balance leadership responsibilities with hands-on design work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing products that support complex operational or field-service workflows.
- Experience working across a suite of interconnected products.
- Experience leading requirements, discovery, or design workshops.
- Experience improving design processes within a growing product organization.
- Familiarity with Agile software-development environments.
- Experience partnering with front-end engineers on design-system implementation.
The Person We’re Looking For
You are a thoughtful design leader who is comfortable moving between strategy, mentorship, collaboration, and detailed design execution. You hold a high bar for quality, but you also know how to help people reach that bar through clear expectations, practical feedback, and consistent support.
You are comfortable working through ambiguity, but you do not allow unclear requirements or undefined outcomes to remain unresolved. You ask strong questions, bring structure to complicated discussions, and help cross-functional teams move toward concrete decisions.
Most importantly, you are both a capable manager and an accomplished designer. You enjoy developing people, improving systems, and shaping product strategy, but you are also willing and able to step into the work and solve challenging design problems directly.
