SUPERVISOR: Community Development Director
Position Summary:
Under general supervision of the Community Development Director, manages and directs the activities and operations of the Building Program in the issuance of building permits, enforcement of applicable building codes, ordinances, and laws of the jurisdiction governing the construction and safety of all structures. Maintains confidentiality of privileged information.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Five years’ experience in the Building Trades to include three years’ experience in building inspection and plan review.
- Must possess and maintain certification as a building inspector by the New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department, Construction Industries Division (C.I.D.).
- Must possess and maintain certification as a certified Building Official by the International Code Council (I.C.C.).
- Must possess or have ability to obtain within first 30 days of employment and must maintain a valid New Mexico Class D driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Construction Management, Building Inspection Technology, or related field.
- Supervisor experience.
