Duties
- Assist with patient intake, including collecting vital signs, medical history, and updating electronic health records (EHR) systems
- Prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures and ensuring comfort
- Perform clinical tasks such as phlebotomy, vital signs, CLIA approved in-clinic testing/specimen collections, vaccinations, and basic life support if necessary
- Support provider with primary care office or outpatient procedures, ensuring accurate documentation of medical records and ICD coding
- Manage medical documentation meticulously, including progress notes, lab results, and medication records in electronic health records (EHR/EMR) systems
- Conduct patient education within scope of license
- Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment while adhering to safety protocols and hospital experience standards
- Uphold office training requirements
Requirements
- Certified Medical Assistant credential from an accredited program; minimum of 3-5 years prior experience in medical office management is required
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems and medical documentation practices. Prior experience with OptiMantra EHR is adventageous.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, ICD coding, and medical-surgical procedures
- Ability to confidently perform phlebotomy, routine immunizations, CLIA testing (urine dips, rapid strep, throat cultures, covid/flu testing), and vital signs collection accurately, including manual blood pressures. Prior venipuncture training and aforementioned skills in this bullet are required for this position.
- Basic life support (BLS) certification required; additional certifications in advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) are advantageous
- Strong patient service skills with a compassionate approach to diverse populations
- Excellent organizational skills for managing medical records and supporting clinic operations efficiently
