Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Automotive Controller to lead our financial operations within the automotive sector. Duties
- Manage and oversee all accounting activities related to automotive operations, including general ledger management, balance sheet reconciliation, and accounts receivable/payable processing.
- Lead the financial close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards), and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct cost accounting analysis to optimize vehicle inventory valuation, depreciation schedules, and expense management.
- Ensure compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act), governmental regulations, and industry-specific standards such as regulatory reporting for automotive dealerships or manufacturers.
- Develop and maintain financial software systems like QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar platforms; utilize Excel data analysis for forecasting, budgeting, and financial modeling.
- Supervise and manage the finance team responsible for payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and treasury management activities including cash flow forecasting.
- Prepare detailed financial reports, statements, and analysis to inform executive decision-making; write comprehensive financial reports highlighting key insights.
- Oversee internal controls related to technical accounting issues such as double entry bookkeeping, account reconciliation, and account analysis to ensure accuracy.
- Monitor regulatory compliance accounting practices specific to the automotive industry; implement best practices for financial management and internal controls.
Requirements
- Proven experience in financial management within the automotive or related sectors; familiarity with governmental or non-profit accounting is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, SOX compliance standards, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Demonstrated expertise in accounting systems such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar software; proficiency in Excel data analysis tools is essential.
- Experience managing accounting teams with a focus on accounts payable/receivable, general ledger reconciliation, and financial close processes.
- Solid understanding of cost accounting analysis, treasury management, budgeting, forecasting, and financial concepts relevant to automotive operations.
- Ability to ensure regulatory compliance across multiple jurisdictions; experience with international accounting standards is advantageous.
- Excellent analytical skills combined with strong written communication for preparing detailed financial reports.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA certification preferred but not mandatory.
