Responsibilities
- Perform dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, to remove plaque, tartar, and stains while ensuring patient comfort.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions.
- Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient experience.
- Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays, ensuring proper technique and safety protocols are followed.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term health.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and office policies.
- Follow infection control protocols using aseptic techniques to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
Requirements
- Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice.
- Proven experience in dental office settings, preferably with pediatric dentistry or general dentistry backgrounds.
- Proficiency with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and record keeping.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and infection control standards.
- Ability to perform chairside assisting duties efficiently while maintaining excellent patient care.
- Familiarity with medical coding practices related to dental procedures for accurate documentation.
- Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively and collaborate seamlessly with the dental team.
