Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
This role supports furnace operations by helping prepare for and unload brazing furnace runs used in the production of heat transfer units. While not responsible for full furnace operations at all times, this position is expected to operate the furnace during periods when the Furnace Technician is unavailable. Approximately 50–75% of the workday will be dedicated to furnace-related tasks, with the remainder spent supporting other areas of production.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (may vary depending on machine assignment)

Work closely with the Furnace Technician to ensure smooth preparation, operation, and completion of furnace runs

Assist in preparing units for brazing by inspecting components and accurately completing furnace logs

Unload furnaces following a run and help with post-run inspections and handling of finished units

Step into furnace operation duties as needed during Furnace Technician absence, using established programs and procedures

Confirm proper furnace program, setup, and safety checks prior to operation

Support basic quality checks and documentation of brazed components

Follow job travelers, standard operating procedures, and safety guidelines

Keep the work area clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards

Use appropriate safety equipment and tools when performing all tasks

Provide support to secondary manufacturing departments as needed, with a preference for experience in the Stack area

Perform basic maintenance tasks under the direction of the Furnace Technician or supervisor

All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
-
High school or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or technical school diploma or equivalent in relevant work experience preferred

Proficient in accurate use of micrometers, calipers, scales, and other measuring tools

Ability to read and work to set tolerances and work from blueprints

Ability to set-up and operate braze furnace
-
Experience in the Stack department is preferred

Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions and/or correspondence

Mechanically inclined and possesses an exceptional degree of attention to detail

Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communications skills required

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw and apply valid conclusions

Basic mathematical skills required to set-up and operate brazing process

Ability to be cross trained throughout manufacturing facility
