Modlite Systems builds the most trusted weapon lights in the world. Every product we ship is held to that standard. To further our mission, we are hiring a Mechanical Engineer to own the mechanical design of our products. This is an onsite role, and is full time in our headquarters in Boerne, TX. You will work hands-on with our product development and operations teams to take products from concept through production. You will live in design sessions, CAD, rapid prototyping at the bench, and working directly with our manufacturing and assembly team to bring products from concept to reality.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Lead mechanical design of products from concept to production release in collaboration with the Product Development Director
- Work in the Product Development department in a tight iteration loop, prototyping and moving fast to bring cool products to life
- Help solve engineering bottlenecks and challenges
- Collaborate in integrating electrical/optical designs into mechanical design
- Design and mock up prototypes, then iterate based on real performance data
- Generate production-ready drawings, tolerances, and specifications for manufacturing teams, and own the storage of company CAD documents
- Partner with manufacturing and supply chain to ensure design revision changes are documented and communicated, owning engineering drawing revisions
- Facilitate design reviews and hold the technical bar across the product line
WHAT YOU BRING
- Preferred 5+ years of mechanical design experience in consumer hardware, optics, rugged electronics
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred
- Expert command of SolidWorks and/or Fusion 360
- Deep knowledge of Design for Manufacturing, especially CNC-machined aluminum
- Strong grasp of GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, and precision fit
- Experience with thermal management of high-power electronic
- Proven track record shipping physical products at volume
BONUS POINTS
- Background in electro-optical disciplines (optics, lens integration, emitter packaging, beam design, etc.)
- Experience with sealing and ruggedization (IPX, vibration, recoil survival)
- Familiarity with firearms platforms and weapon-mounted accessories.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
