Medical Billing Clerk
Location: Valley Day & Night Clinic - Brownsville, TX (in person position)
Pay Rate: $12.00 per hour (based on experience)
Job Summary
Valley Day & Night Clinic is seeking a detail‑oriented and dependable Medical Billing Clerk to join our healthcare team. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely billing, claims submission, and payment posting while maintaining compliance with all applicable regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and submit medical claims to insurance companies and payers
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits
- Accurately post payments, adjustments, and denials
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims to ensure timely reimbursement
- Maintain accurate patient billing records and documentation
- Communicate with insurance companies, patients, and internal staff regarding billing inquiries
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and clinic billing policies
- Assist with billing reports and other administrative tasks as needed
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; certification in medical billing or coding preferred
- Previous experience in medical billing, healthcare administration, or a related field preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT/ICD‑10 coding, and insurance billing processes
- Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) and billing software
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
