Food Service Auditor
12 month position
Hours vary from 7:00am to 5pm
(Based on audit needs)
$18.84 per hour
Scope of Responsibilities
The Food Service Auditor will be responsible for assisting the Food Services Director for the
overall success of the Food Services Department by conducting food services audits for the School
Nutrition Program for lunch and breakfast and the Child and Adult Care Food Program which includes
audits for snacks and dinner programs. Will perform Summer Audits at school, churches
and park locations. Other audits such as Safety audits and Fresh Eyes state readiness audits will
be conducted as well.
This position will also have responsibilities for helping to train others and may
need to fill in at a school location as a supervisor/manager absence as directed by staffing
Manager.
Performance Responsibilities
1. Reports to the Assistant Director/ Staffing Manager and coordinates schedule of audits to meet
state requirements.
2. Conducts audits and determines deficiencies from audit.
3. Review weekly deficiencies with the Assistant Director of Food Services/staffing Manager so a
plan of action can be communicated to correct items.
4. Fills in as a supervisor, manager or regular food service employee at various school locations
as assigned by Food Service Assistant Director/ Staffing Manager. Prepares or directs preparation
of meals in accordance with corporate programs and guidelines.
5. Adheres to the sanitation and safety practices which comply with the State, County and District
requirements, which includes the receiving, storing, handling, preparing and serving of food
products, as well as the general cleaning and sanitation of the kitchen and equipment.
6. Trains members of the food service staff and teachers, KRESA members as assigned by Food Service
Management team.
7. Communicates to the Assistant Director/ Staffing Manager concerns regarding any issues.
8. Communicates to the Director regarding concerns related to the overall department.
9. Communicates to the Executive Chef regarding any equipment or safety concerns when completing
safety audits.
10. Adheres to the proper safety practices such as checking for hazards in the area, removing
hazards, reporting to the Executive Chef, completing accident reports.
11. Completes all food service reports in a timely manner.
12. Must attend all Back-to- School training and other supervisor meetings and trainings that are
assigned.
13. Must complete annual training required by the state of Michigan regarding audits of various
programs which may involve travel to another city within Michigan.
14. Ensure compliance of the national School Lunch, Breakfast and Dinner programs. Ensures
compliance of the CACFP program. The program adheres to the USDA, Michigan Department of Education,
health department and district regulations.
15. Performs other responsibilities and duties as assigned by the Director of Food Services or the
Assistant Director of Food Services or Executive Chef.
Minimum Qualifications
1. High school diploma from an accredited establishment.
2. Serv safe certified or equivalent food safety and sanitation certification or must obtain within
90 days of hire.
3. Experience in school food service, large volume restaurant, hotel, corporate dining, healthcare
food services or other related high volume food service operations preferred.
4. High detailed paperwork experience such as audits preferred.
5. Computer proficiency.
6. Must have reliable transportation as position requires driving personal vehicle to many
different locations daily within the district.
7. Effective communication to the management team, leadership and employees.
8. Must be able to work under pressure and a specific timeline.
9. Must display reliable attendance and promptness.
10. Must be neat and clean and have a high standard of personal hygiene.
