Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Mobile Diesel Mechanic to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a wide range of diesel-powered vehicles and equipment at customer locations or on job sites. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, safety-conscious, capable of working independently with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical aptitude, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service.
Responsibilities:
- Perform on-site diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
- Conduct regular preventative maintenance on trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment.
- Respond promptly to service calls and complete repairs efficiently to minimize downtime.
- Maintain accurate records of services performed, parts used, and time spent on each job.
- Use diagnostic tools and software to identify mechanical issues.
- Communicate effectively with customers to explain repairs and offer recommendations.
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Maintain and manage inventory of tools, parts, and supplies in service vehicle.
- Keep service vehicle clean, organized, and in good working order.
Skills:
- Strong mechanic skills with experience in diesel engine repair.
- Proficient in the use of power tools and hand tools for vehicle maintenance.
- Knowledge of hydraulics systems and their operation.
- Ability to fabricate components as needed for repairs.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail in diagnosing issues.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic codes.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical school training or certifications in diesel technology preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a diesel mechanic, preferably in a mobile or field service role.
- Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred).
- Strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and diagnostics.
- Must be able to lift 50+ lbs. and work in various weather conditions.
