American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN Case Manager with strong Epic charting and acute care experience for a hospital position in California.

Acute hospital setting within the Case Management department
-
Patient population includes adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
-
Patient ratio of 1:25
-
Day shift schedule with 4x10 hour shifts from 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM
-
2 weekend shifts required per 4-week period
-
Uses Epic charting system
-
Travelers expected to float within their skill set
-
May be placed on call up to once per pay period with a 60-minute call back requirement
-
Active CA RN license required at time of submission
-
BLS certification required
-
BSN required
-
Minimum 2 years of acute care Case Management experience required
-
Critical care experience required
-
Strong Epic charting experience required
-
Recent travel experience required with strong travel history and 0-1 cancellations

Teaching hospital experience preferred
-
Trauma Level I and II experience preferred

1 professional reference required

Flu vaccine required, with exemptions considered on a case-by-case basis

Responsible for determining appropriateness of hospital admissions and coordinating the interdisciplinary plan of care
-
Advocates for and facilitates medically appropriate, effective, and efficient use of resources to optimize patient outcomes
-
Duties include admission criteria review, appeals and denials, care coordination, discharge planning, needs assessment, DME ordering, and prior authorizations

First-time travelers will not be considered for this position

Candidates permanent address must be more than 50 miles from the facility, and local candidates are not accepted
-
Former employees of the facility must have been separated for 2 or more years to be eligible to return as a traveler

Requested time off should not exceed 7 days and must be submitted with the initial profile
-
No time off allowed within the first two weeks of the assignment
-
Travelers must work every other holiday, with preference given for coverage of 2 of the following 3: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve
-
Only one contract extension is permitted; travelers must then take time off equal to the combined length of the original contract and extension before returning to this facility
-
Candidates should be flexible with scheduling, as block scheduling is rarely granted
-
10 hours of required training modules must be completed prior to start and annually
