Duties
- Assist healthcare providers with patient intake, including collecting medical histories, vital signs, and documenting symptoms accurately in electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems).
- Perform clinical procedures such as phlebotomy, and basic life support (BLS) to support patient treatment plans.
- Manage medical documentation meticulously, including coding diagnoses with ICD codes and maintaining detailed medical records for compliance and continuity of care.
- Prepare examination rooms, sterilize equipment, and ensure all clinical areas meet safety standards for outpatient clinics.
- Facilitate patient flow by scheduling appointments, coordinating follow-ups, and assisting with patient education on medications and treatment protocols.
- Support hospital medicine teams with inpatient procedures, including vital signs monitoring and assisting during procedures in Level I or Level II trauma centers.
- Maintain proficiency with EMR/EHR systems for accurate data entry, appointment scheduling, and medical record management to streamline clinic operations.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and ICD coding to ensure accurate documentation and effective communication.
- Proficiency in medical assisting tasks such as phlebotomy, and vital signs collection.
- Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach to diverse patient populations across outpatient clinics.
- Ability to operate EMR/EHR systems efficiently for documentation and record management; experience with electronic health records management is essential.
- Knowledge of medical office management practices including appointment scheduling, intake procedures, and insurance documentation processes.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred; prior clinic experience highly valued.
