JOB DESCRIPTION
Title: Head Coach
FLSA Status: Exempt
Reports To: Athletic Director or Designee
Supervises: Athletic Players
Qualifications:

CHSAA coaching certification or teaching license.

Current First Aid/CPR certification.

Strong leadership and organizational skills.

Job Goal:
The Head Coach oversees and directs the specific sport program for grades 7-12. This role is responsible for providing comprehensive instruction, fostering athlete development, ensuring compliance with district, league, and CHSAA policies, and promoting a positive and professional environment.
Responsibilities:

Policy Adherence: Ensure compliance with Wray School District RD-2 policies, CHSAA, and league rules.

Certification Requirements: Maintain CHSAA coaching certification, First Aid/CPR certification, and any relevant teaching licenses.

Program Management: Oversee all aspects of the sport-specific program for grades 7-12, including instruction, planning, and athlete supervision. Coordinates program budget with Athletic Director and Finance Director.

Practice Planning: Develop and implement daily written practice plans.

Equipment & Facilities: Manage care, inventory, and storage of equipment and assist with facility preparation and maintenance as needed.

Supervision: Provide total supervision of athletes before, during, and after practices or activities, ensuring safety and discipline.

Communication: Establish and document a parent/athlete meeting prior to competition. Maintain regular communication with the principal and athletic director or designee.

Support: Promote and support all Wray School District programs and adhere to administrative decisions.

Administrative Duties: Assist with transportation requests and follow the chain of command as outlined in the coaching handbook.

Professional Development: Attend sport-specific coaching clinics and maintain recommended CHSCA membership.
Additional Responsibilities:

Lock and secure athletic facilities nightly.

Make final decisions regarding athletes and enforce consequences as needed.

Tidy up the area used for practice or training and ensure all equipment is put up and stowed away in its proper place.

Participate in post-season equipment/uniform check-in.

Perform additional duties as assigned by the Athletic Director or designee.
Terms of Employment:

Salary and work year as described in district policy. This role requires time outside of regular school hours, including evenings and weekends for practices, competitions, and related events.
