The Lead Orthodontic Assistant is responsible for overseeing all clinical operations within the orthodontic department, ensuring exceptional patient care, efficient clinical flow, and full compliance with regulatory standards. This role provides strong leadership and support to the orthodontic assisting team while partnering closely with the orthodontist(s) and administrative leadership to drive practice growth and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities Clinical Leadership & Operations
- Oversee daily orthodontic clinical operations and patient flow
- Supervise, coach, and support orthodontic assistants and clinical staff
- Ensure adherence to clinical protocols, treatment standards, and doctor preferences
- Optimize chair utilization, scheduling efficiency, and staffing coverage
Compliance & Safety
- Maintain compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and applicable state dental regulations
- Oversee infection control, sterilization procedures, and clinical safety protocols
- Ensure accurate clinical documentation and adherence to best practices
Team Development
- Recruit, hire, onboard, and train orthodontic clinical team members
- Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching and feedback
- Address performance issues, attendance concerns, and clinical matters promptly and professionally
Patient Experience
- Ensure high-quality chairside care and effective patient education
- Support complex cases, patient concerns, and escalations as needed
- Foster a positive, professional, and compassionate patient experience
Efficiency & Inventory Management
- Monitor clinical productivity and workflow efficiency
- Manage clinical supplies, orthodontic materials, and equipment needs
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost control
Qualifications
- Minimum 2–3 years of orthodontic clinical experience, preferably in a leadership role
- Strong knowledge of orthodontic procedures, appliances, and clinical workflows
- Proven leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to multitask and lead effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Professional, dependable, and growth-oriented mindset

Required Certifications

Pay: $30.00 - $32.00 per hour
