OVERVIEW
Parent Worker positions are hourly school-based positions. They can be opened for anywhere from 4 to 8 hours per day. These positions allow principals to hire parents or community members at their schools to fulfill specific roles at a school.
Position Overview at Whitney Young High School:
The Parent Worker serves as a vital bridge between the school, students, and families. Stationed in the Attendance Office, this role combines administrative accuracy with exceptional community support. You will be the first point of contact for parents reporting absences, a guide for families navigating school technology, and a key player in ensuring our daily attendance data is flawless.
Key Responsibilities
Qualifications & Skills
Detail-Oriented: Exceptional accuracy in data entry and record-keeping is non-negotiable.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to interact with a diverse population of parents, students, and staff with empathy and professionalism.
Tech-Savvy: Proficiency with school management systems (experience with Aspen is a major plus, but training will be provided) and standard office software (Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, etc.)
Multilingualism (Highly Preferred): Proficiency in at least one language other than English to effectively support our diverse community.
Problem-Solving: Ability to handle fast-paced environments, multitask, and maintain confidentiality regarding student records.
