Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Live-In Caregiver to provide exceptional in-home care for clients requiring assistance with daily activities and health management. Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive personal care assistance, including help with bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility.
- Monitor patient health through observation of vital signs and overall condition, reporting any concerns promptly.
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as meal preparation, light housekeeping, laundry, and medication reminders.
- Support patients with mobility using proper patient transfer methods and equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation and records using Electronic Health Record (EHR) or Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
- Administer medications safely following medical terminology guidelines and home healthcare regulations.
- Respond effectively to emergencies by applying first aid, basic life support (BLS), and CPR techniques as needed.
- Facilitate communication between clients, family members, and healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care plans.
- Assist with specialized care needs such as dementia, Alzheimer's disease, hospice/end-of-life care, or patients with developmental disabilities.
- Support client safety by conducting patient observation and implementing safety protocols within the home environment.
Requirements
- Proven experience working as a caregiver in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home healthcare settings; live-in employment experience is highly valued.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medication administration, catheter care, vital signs monitoring, and medical documentation practices.
- Familiarity with home health care assistance tools such as Hoyer lifts and patient transfer methods.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining excellent communication skills with clients and team members.
- Certification in first aid, CPR, and basic life support (BLS) is required; additional certifications in hospice or dementia care are a plus.
- Experience working with geriatric patients or individuals with disabilities including dementia or developmental disabilities.
- Knowledge of home health agency regulations and compliance standards including HIPAA privacy rules.
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary and assist with mobility tasks safely.
- Compassionate attitude combined with a proactive approach to patient safety and comfort.
