Summary of Position
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing competent, quality, skilled nursing services in accordance with the individual child’s physician Plan of Care and ongoing physician orders. All care is delivered in compliance with the state specific Registered Nurse Practice Act and HealthCare for Kids company Policies and Procedures. The Transport Nurse communicates collaboratively and effectively with other healthcare professionals and the individual child’s family.
Education, Skills, and Experience Requirements:
- Valid Nursing License in Texas with no disciplinary action
- Must meet one of the following requirements.
- One year of pediatric specialty experience with emphasis on medically and technologically dependent minors, obtained within the previous five years; or
- Sufficient skills to meet the competency and training requirements as determined by the State of Texas
- Must be certified by the American Heart Association (AHA) CPR/BLS with AED and First Aid
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, lift or assist in lifting an individual in an emergency.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, squat, and demonstrate flexibility to meet the care needs of the individual.
- Must be able to see with visual and listen with hearing acuity.
- Must have strength and manual dexterity, including grasping and manipulating small objects, to operate medical equipment appropriately.
- Must be able to respond in an emergency.
