JOB SUMMARY:

The Outside Equipment Sales Representative is responsible for driving revenue growth within an assigned territory by developing new business opportunities, maintaining strong customer relationships, and delivering exceptional service before, during, and after the sale. This role requires proactive prospecting, strategic account management, and close collaboration with internal teams and vendor partners to achieve corporate and personal sales goals. This position reports directly to the VP of Equipment Sales

Key Responsibilities: include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Sales & Business

Identify and pursue new sales prospects within the assigned territory.
Contact all assigned customers at least once per quarter to maintain engagement and uncover opportunities.
Follow up on new leads and referrals generated through field activity.
Prepare and deliver professional presentations, proposals, sales contracts, and bid submissions as required.
Achieve consistent market growth and profitability targets.

Customer Relationship Management

Establish, develop, and maintain long-term relationships with current and prospective customers.
Respond promptly to customer inquiries via phone and email (within a few hours, no later than the next business day).
Service accounts during and after the sale to ensure satisfaction and encourage repeat business.
Identify and resolve customer concerns in a timely and professional manner.
Provide product training to customers directly or coordinate training with vendor partners.

Collaboration & Communication

Partner with Inside Sales Representatives to generate accurate sales quotes using the company business system.
Clearly communicate customer requirements, including vendor, model, part numbers, specifications, shipping details, and purchase order information.
Work within a team-based environment to achieve corporate, departmental, and individual objectives.
Share field intelligence, new opportunities, customer feedback, and market developments with appropriate company personnel.
Collaborate with Accounts Payable to follow up on past-due accounts when necessary.
Work in alignment with the Equipment Sales Manual and company policies.

Market & Product Expertise

Maintain current knowledge of company products, competitive offerings, and local market pricing.
Develop and update sales materials as needed to support sales efforts.

Reporting & Administration

Prepare and submit regular status reports detailing sales activity, closings, follow-ups, and goal attainment.
Maintain accurate records of vehicle inventory and demo stock in accordance with company policy.

Industry Engagement

Attend one to two trade shows annually and engage with customers and vendor partners to expand market presence and strengthen relationships.

Required Qualifications: To successfully perform this job, an individual must be able to carry out each essential duty effectively. The qualifications outlined below represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities that are required. or preferred for this position.

Education: High school diploma or GED required.
Experience: At least 2+ years of experience working in an office setting, demonstrating strong administrative, organizational, and communication skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple tasks, maintain accurate records, and support both internal teams and external clients or vendors efficiently.

Skills and Abilities:

Strong organizational and communication skills.
Proven experience in general office administration, including scheduling, filing, data entry, and managing correspondence.
Hands-on experience with office software such as Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with business operating software.
Experience interacting with clients, vendors, and internal teams, providing professional support and maintaining positive relationships.
Able to read and understand basic instructions, short communications, and emails. Capable of writing standard correspondence and communicating effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks or projects simultaneously, prioritize work effectively, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
Ability to apply common sense and critical thinking to follow written and verbal instructions and resolve issues involving multiple variables within standard guidelines.
Capable of working independently on assigned tasks while also responding well to direction and collaborative assignments.

Education: Associates or Bachelor’s in Business, Sales, Marketing or related field required; minimum of 5 years of managerial experience in a related field.

Experience: 2-3+ years of experience of outside sales experience, preferably in equipment, industrial or related industries.

Skills and Abilities:

Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals and revenue targets.
Strong prospecting, negotiation, and closing skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to deliver professional presentations and proposals.
Ability to build and maintain long-term customer relationships.
Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage a defined territory effectively.
Proficiency in CRM systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and business management software.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and ability to travel within assigned territory.
Self-motivated, goal-driven, and results-oriented mindset.
Ability to understand technical product specifications and communicate customer requirements accurately.
