Duties
- Safely operate box trucks, tractor-trailers, and other commercial vehicles adhering to FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations
- Plan and follow efficient routes using GPS navigation systems to ensure timely deliveries across OTR (Over the Road) routes
- Load and unload freight with proper manual handling techniques, ensuring cargo safety and compliance with hazardous materials regulations when applicable
- Transport refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or specialized equipment for various types of freight including dangerous goods and hazardous materials
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation, logs, and reports in accordance with logistics cargo handling standards
- Conduct pre-trip inspections on trucks and trailers to identify maintenance needs or safety issues before departure
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and team members to coordinate delivery schedules and resolve any route or cargo issues promptly
Experience
- Proven experience as a commercial truck driver with a focus on delivery driving and route driving
- Familiarity with refrigerated trailer operations, hazardous materials (Hazmat) handling, and dangerous goods transportation
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT compliance standards, and hazardous materials regulations
- Experience loading/unloading trucks using manual methods in logistics cargo handling environments
- Demonstrated ability to navigate using GPS systems accurately over long-distance OTR routes
- Prior experience with truck loading/unloading procedures such as flatbed or tanker operations is a plus
