Overview
Join our dynamic team as a Facilities/Kitchen Assistant, where your energy and skills will play a vital role in creating a welcoming, efficient, and safe environment. Your contributions will include but are not limited to room setups and breakdown, general facility maintenance, food, paper goods and sundry item stocking. In this role, you will also support daily kitchen operations, assist with food preparation and service, maintain cleanliness standards, and help ensure that all safety protocols are followed. Your schedule will include some weekend and evening shifts.
Responsibilities
- Set up tables and chairs and equipment as needed for banquets, programs, and meetings.
- Help with maintenance of grounds and building, including mopping, sweeping, and general upkeep of common areas when needed ( there is dedicated maintenance staff in place, this is to augment as needed).
- Stock food and other service items on daily basis in kitchen, restrooms, sanctuary, and Dining Room.
- Assist with food preparation, including slicing, chopping, and assembling ingredients following established recipes and safety standards.
- Operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, mixers, slicers, and other culinary tools safely and efficiently.
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas by cleaning surfaces, utensils, appliances, and floors in accordance with food safety regulations
- Manage inventory levels of kitchen supplies and report shortages or maintenance needs promptly.
Skills
- Ability to follow detailed instructions accurately while maintaining flexibility during busy periods
- Strength to lift heavy loads, set up and break down of tables, chairs and equipment, and stocking inventory
- Excellent communication skills to effectively coordinate with kitchen staff and other team members
- The ability to pivot as needed; the team has to be ready to respond quickly to situations as they arise.
- Proven ability to prepare meals efficiently while maintaining high quality and presentation standards
- Skilled in operating various kitchen equipment safely, including slicers, blenders, ovens, and dishwashers
- Ability to follow written plans, diagrams, and order sheets for events
