Inventory Warehouse Specialist - Velva, ND
Job Summary:
The Inventory/Warehouse Specialist is responsible for managing maintenance-related inventory, warehouse operations, and material control activities that support the safe and efficient operation of the plant. This position serves as a critical link between the Maintenance, Operations, Procurement, and Reliability teams by ensuring the availability, accuracy, and proper storage of maintenance, repair, and operating (MRO) materials, spare parts, tools, and equipment required to maintain continuous plant operations.
The Inventory/Warehouse Specialist maintains inventory integrity, coordinates material receipts and issues, supports preventive and corrective maintenance activities, and ensures compliance with company safety, environmental, and quality standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Inventory Management-
Maintain accurate inventory records for maintenance of spare parts, consumables, tools, lubricants, and critical equipment components.

Perform cycle counts, physical inventories, and inventory audits to ensure stock accuracy.

Monitor inventory levels and generate replenishment requests based on established minimum/maximum stocking levels.

Identify obsolete, excess, or damaged inventory and recommend corrective actions.

Ensure proper identification, labeling, and tracking of all warehouse materials.

Maintain computerized inventory records using CMMS, ERP, or inventory management systems.
Maintenance Support-
Issue and receive spare parts and materials for preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of work orders.

Coordinate material staging for planned maintenance shutdowns, turnarounds, and capital projects.

Assist maintenance planners and supervisors with identifying and sourcing required parts and materials.

Verify receipt of maintenance-related shipments against purchase orders and packing slips.

Maintain critical spare parts inventories to support plant reliability and reduce downtime.
Warehouse Operations-
Receive, inspect, unload, and store incoming materials and equipment.

Organize warehouse locations to maximize efficiency, accessibility, and inventory accuracy.

Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely.

Maintain housekeeping standards throughout warehouse and storage areas (bone yard)

Coordinate shipment of materials, repairs, warranty returns, and vendor returns.

Ensure proper storage and handling of chemicals, lubricants, and hazardous materials in accordance with safety and environmental regulations.
Procurement and Vendor Coordination-
Collaborate with purchasing personnel to expedite critical maintenance materials.

Track open purchase orders and delivery schedules.

Communicate with vendors regarding shipment status, shortages, and discrepancies.

Assist in evaluating vendor performance and inventory optimization opportunities.

Support sourcing efforts for specialized industrial and process equipment components.
Safety, Environmental, and Regulatory Compliance-
Follow all plant safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, and warehouse safety practices.

Maintain compliance with OSHA, environmental, food/feed safety, ADM policies.

Participate in safety meetings, audits, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Report unsafe conditions, inventory discrepancies, and equipment issues promptly.

Ensure proper documentation and storage of regulated materials.
Required Qualifications:-
High school diploma or GED required.

Minimum 2–5 years of warehouse, inventory control, maintenance of storeroom, or industrial supply experience.

Experience working in a manufacturing, industrial processing, agricultural processing, biodiesel, renewable fuels, chemical, or food processing environment preferred.

Proficiency with computerized inventory systems, ERP software, and Microsoft Office applications.

Ability to read equipment manuals, parts catalogs, technical drawings, and purchase documentation.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced production environment.
Preferred Qualifications:-
Experience with CMMS platforms such as SAP PM, Maximo, Infor EAM, or similar maintenance management systems.

Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.

Understanding reliability-centered maintenance and critical spare parts management.

APICS, CPIM, or inventory management certification is a plus.
Physical Requirements:-
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.

Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb stairs, and work in warehouse and industrial environments for extended periods.

Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, and respiratory protection when required.
Work Conditions:
This position works in both warehouse and industrial production settings. Exposure to moving machinery, dust, elevated work areas, chemicals, oils, lubricants, and varying temperatures may occur. Strict adherence to safety, environmental, and operational procedures is required.
