Weekend live-in support staff in a group home provide continuous care, supervision, and life-skills training from Friday evening through Sunday night. They ensure residents' safety, assist with personal hygiene, manage medications, and facilitate community integration while maintaining a supportive and structured residential environment.
Role Overview
As a weekend live-in Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will live on-site in a shared residential setting over the weekend to provide consistent care when weekday staff are off duty. You will act as a companion, caregiver, and life skills coach for 4–8 adult residents, helping them maintain their independence and integrate into the local community
Key Responsibilities
Direct Care & Daily Living Assistance
· Personal Care: Assist residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.

· Meal Prep: Plan, shop for, and prepare nutritious meals, accommodating special dietary requirements or restrictions.

· Medication Management: Safely administer prescribed medications, log doses, and monitor for side effects as dictated by the care plan.

· Mobility Support: Assist with transferring residents (including using mechanical lifts) and help with general ambulation.
· Management & Life Skills
· Skill Building: Coach residents in daily living tasks (e.g., laundry, room organization, personal finance) to foster maximum independence.
· Activities: Organize and lead recreational, educational, and leisure activities.
· Community Integration: Accompany residents on community outings, appointments, and errands.
· Safety & Documentation
· Environment: Maintain a clean, secure, and sanitary group home environment.
· Crisis Intervention: Manage behavioral challenges using de-escalation techniques, and respond promptly to medical emergencies or crises.
· Reporting: Document resident progress, daily activities, health changes, and incidents according to the facility’s policies.
Qualifications & Requirements
· Education: High school diploma
· Experience: Previous caregiving, Direct Support Professional (DSP), or related human services experience.
· Certifications: CPR and First Aid certification; Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential a plus.
· Transportation: Valid class E driver's license with a safe driving record.
· Background: Must pass comprehensive state/federal background and drug screenings.
· Key Traits: High level of patience, compassion, and the physical stamina required to perform live-in, 24/7 or extended weekend rotations.
