1099 Contract In-Person Travel Required Security+ CompTIA IT Training
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking an experienced CompTIA Security+ instructor to deliver in-person, exam-focused training to students preparing for the SY0-701 certification. This is a 1099 independent contractor position with a variable schedule — engagements are assigned based on upcoming cohort dates and training locations. Ideal for certified professionals who enjoy travel and are passionate about teaching cybersecurity fundamentals.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Deliver in-person Security+ training sessions at assigned locations on scheduled dates
Facilitate classroom instruction aligned to CompTIA SY0-701 exam objectives
Administer quizzes, practice exams, and hands-on lab activities
Provide individualized support to students throughout each cohort
Communicate availability in advance to confirm scheduling assignments
Invoice per engagement and maintain independent contractor records
REQUIREMENTS
Active CompTIA Security+ certification (SY0-701 preferred)
2+ years of hands-on experience in cybersecurity or IT security roles
Prior classroom training or instructional experience strongly preferred
Ability and willingness to travel to various training sites as needed
Strong in-person communication and classroom management skills
Must be able to work as a 1099 independent contractor — no W-2 or benefits provided
NICE TO HAVE
Additional CompTIA certs (Network+, CySA+, CASP+, PenTest+)
Corporate or bootcamp classroom training background
Experience with multiple training venues or government/military training environments
COMPENSATION
Rate varies by engagement — compensation is determined based on training dates, duration, and location. Specific rates are discussed and agreed upon prior to each assignment. All contractors are responsible for their own taxes and self-employment obligations. Travel reimbursement policy discussed at time of offer.
