Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Commercial Driver's License (CDL) A Truck Driver to join our tree service business. In this vital role, you will operate a clam truck and various specialized trucks to load tree logs at each job site throughout the day.
Duties
- Safely operate tractor-trailers, including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and roll-off trucks, across designated routes while complying with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations.
- Learn and operate the clam atop the truck you will be driving.
- Unload the tree debris from your truck to our dump site.
- Do manual labor while not using the clam truck including but not limited to: Hand dragging debris out to the wood chipper or log loader, operating a skid loader, using a blower or rake.
- Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of trucks and trailers to ensure safety standards are met; report any mechanical issues promptly.
- Show up on time every day and don't call in sick (Especially within the first 90 days as this may terminate your employment)
Requirements
- Valid CDL A license with a clean driving record; experience operating tractor-trailers with manual transmissions preferred.
- Knowledge of truck loading/unloading procedures and manual handling techniques for freight safety.
- Understanding of FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations, DOT regulations, and hazardous goods handling protocols.
- Experience operating specialized trucks such as flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, roll-off trucks or refrigerated trailers is highly desirable.
- Strong physical stamina for manual handling tasks; ability to lift heavy loads safely when required.
- Excellent driving skills with a focus on safety, punctuality, and customer service excellence.
