Job Summary: As a Sales Manager / Technical Sales Engineer at Patterson Mold and Tool, you will drive revenue growth by acquiring new customers, managing key accounts, and providing technical expertise in die cast tooling, precision machining, and related manufacturing solutions. This role combines strategic sales leadership with hands-on technical support to ensure customer satisfaction, foster strong relationships, and support our continued expansion in the tooling and die casting industry. You will collaborate closely with engineering, quality, and production teams to deliver tailored solutions that meet customer needs.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and acquisition of new customers in the die casting, tooling, aerospace, and precision machining markets.
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing customer accounts to maximize retention and identify upsell opportunities.
- Manage and coordinate all sales activities for assigned accounts, including quoting, pricing strategies, and contract negotiations.
- Prepare accurate and competitive quotations for new projects, existing programs, engineering changes, tooling repairs, and refurbishments in a timely manner.
- Review and monitor project status, including strategic planning, quality control, engineering progress, tooling development, and delivery timelines.
- Coordinate customer visits, plant tours, technical meetings, and on-site reviews to build trust and showcase our capabilities.
- Regularly review and revise pricing for customer accounts based on market conditions, material costs, and value-added services.
- Stay current with advancements in the tooling, aluminum die casting, high-pressure die casting, precision machining, and related industries through continuous education and industry engagement.
- Provide regular updates to customers on job progress as projects move through design, manufacturing, and production stages.
- Travel occasionally (domestic) to customer sites, trade shows, and industry events as needed.
- Collaborate with internal teams (engineering, production, quality) to resolve issues and ensure on-time delivery of high-quality solutions.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management to support company goals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred; OR at least 5–10 years of proven experience in technical/industrial sales (tooling, machining, die casting, or manufacturing environment required).
- Strong knowledge of tooling, molding, aluminum/high-pressure die casting, trim dies, precision machining, and manufacturing processes is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated success in developing new business, managing key accounts, and achieving sales targets in an industrial B2B setting.
Required Skills and Competencies:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with strong time management and organizational abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with CRM or ERP systems is a plus.
- Technical aptitude to read, interpret, and discuss 2D drawings, 3D models, and technical specifications.
- Strong analytical, financial, negotiating, and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated starter who thrives as both an individual contributor and team player.
- Ability to interact effectively at all organizational levels—from shop floor to executive leadership.
- Proven capability to lead without formal authority, build credibility, trust, and long-term relationships.
