Position Summary
The Fleet Telematics Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of fleet vehicle camera systems, GPS tracking equipment, telematics devices, and related electronic hardware. This position supports company fleet operations by ensuring all vehicle monitoring and safety equipment remains fully operational and compliant with company standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Install GPS tracking systems, dash cameras, telematics equipment, and related electronic components in company fleet vehicles.
- Diagnose and repair issues involving vehicle camera systems, GPS units, wiring, sensors, and communication devices.
- Perform routine inspections, testing, and preventive maintenance on installed fleet technology systems.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, connectivity, and power-related issues.
- Maintain accurate installation, maintenance, and repair records.
- Coordinate with fleet management and operations personnel regarding equipment functionality and vehicle downtime.
- Ensure all installations meet manufacturer specifications and company safety standards.
- Manage inventory of parts, tools, wiring, and replacement equipment.
- Assist with vendor coordination and warranty claims when necessary.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and service vehicle.
- Stay current on evolving telematics, GPS, and vehicle camera technologies.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience with 12V vehicle electrical systems preferred.
- Experience installing or servicing GPS, dash camera, or telematics systems preferred.
- Basic understanding of wiring diagrams, electrical troubleshooting, and vehicle electronics.
- Ability to use diagnostic tools, hand tools, and testing equipment.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record required.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work inside and around fleet vehicles for extended periods.
- Frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, and reaching.
- Ability to work in shop and outdoor environments in varying weather conditions.
Pay: $23.00 - $35.93 per hour
