Position Details
- Position: Physician Assistant (Adult Care)
- Location: Downey Medical Center
- Contract Length: 6 Months (with option to extend)
- Schedule: Monday through Friday
- Hours: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Job Responsibilities
- Provide follow-up care to adult patients within 7 days of hospital discharge
- Conduct patient visits in the clinic, via telehealth, or by phone
- Evaluate patient recovery, review medications, address post-discharge concerns, and coordinate ongoing care
- Document patient encounters accurately using EPIC (Health Connect)
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care
- Manage an average of 12–16 patients per day
- Participate in training for advanced outpatient procedures as physicians complete their training
Procedures (Training Provided)
Experience with the following procedures is a plus but not required. Candidates must be willing to learn and receive training:
- PICC Line Care and Removal
- Paracentesis
- Thoracentesis
- Central Venous Catheter Removal
- Removal of Tunneled Venous Devices
- PleurX Management and Removal
- Lumbar Puncture
- Suture Removal
- Wound Care and Incision & Drainage (I&D)
- Arthrocentesis
Qualifications
- Active Physician Assistant license
- Minimum of 1 year of Physician Assistant experience
- Board Certified
- BLS Certification (American Heart Association)
- Experience with EPIC is preferred
- Comfortable providing both in-person and virtual patient care
- Willing to learn new outpatient procedures
